Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to meet the United States Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, in New Delhi today.

The meeting, taking place at South Block, is expected to focus on key bilateral security and intelligence-sharing matters, according to officials from the Ministry of Defence.

The high-level discussion follows Gabbard’s meeting with National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval on Sunday evening.

According to sources, the two engaged in a detailed dialogue covering multiple aspects of the India-US partnership.

Gabbard is currently on a multi-nation tour, with the Indian leg culminating in her address at the Raisina Dialogue on 18 March.

The conference, India’s premier forum on geopolitics and geoeconomics, is being hosted in collaboration with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the event today, with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon delivering the keynote address.

A senior US administration official said that Gabbard would also hold bilateral meetings with Indian authorities and representatives from other countries during the Raisina Dialogue.

Gabbard’s visit comes in the wake of Prime Minister Modi’s trip to the United States in February, where he met her and described her as a “strong votary” of India-US relations.

Gabbard, in turn, welcomed Modi’s visit, expressing her commitment to strengthening ties between the two nations.

According to ORF, the Raisina Dialogue, taking place from 17 to 19 March, will witness the participation of approximately 3,700 attendees, including over 800 speakers and delegates from around 130 countries. Gabbard is slated to engage in a keynote conversation with ORF President Samir Saran.

As part of her engagements, Gabbard will also interact with Indian defence officials and security experts, further underlining the growing strategic cooperation between the two nations.
