Two terrorists were killed by security forces while attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district.
The terrorists opened fire when security forces personnel in the border area noticed suspicious movement and challenged the men to identify themselves. They were killed in retaliatory firing in the Gohallan area of north Kashmir's Uri sector, sources quoted by news outlets said on Sunday.
A large cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered from the area during a search.
Officials on Saturday reported that the Army and other security personnel thwarted the infiltration bid in the Gohallan area of Baramulla district.
"A group of terrorists was noticed by the security forces trying to sneak into this side of the LoC in the Gohallan area of Uri. The security forces challenged the group, and the infiltration bid was foiled," said the officials.
There has been a noticeable increase in terrorist activities in Jammu & Kashmir over the past fortnight.
