The demise of Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, has been mourned by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Expressing his deep sorrow, he described the loss as irreparable for the entire saint community.
Dhami took to his official social media account to pay tribute to the late priest. In his message, he referred to Acharya Satyendra Das as a virtuous soul and prayed for his peace.
He also extended his condolences to the followers and well-wishers of the chief priest, acknowledging the immense sorrow they are experiencing.
Acharya Satyendra Das was admitted to the High Dependency Unit (HDU) of the Neurology ward at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) in Lucknow on 3 February.
He was in critical condition after suffering a stroke and was under the care of senior consultants from the Neurology department.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had visited the ailing priest at the hospital a day after he suffered the stroke. His visit was seen as a gesture of respect and concern for the spiritual leader, who played a significant role in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement and the consecration of the temple.
Acharya Satyendra Das had been actively involved in religious ceremonies and temple affairs. He was last seen celebrating the first anniversary of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony at the Ayodhya temple on 11 January.
He had described the event as a beautiful and grand occasion, expressing his happiness over the progress of the temple.
His passing is a significant loss for the Hindu religious community, particularly for those associated with the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Devotees and spiritual leaders have expressed their grief, remembering him for his contributions to the temple and his dedication to religious service.
