Amid a heated controversy concerning alleged irregularities in competitive exam administration, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has released new dates for cancelled and postponed examinations. The UGC-NET will now take place from August 21 to September 4.
The University Grants Commission–National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) was called off the day after it was conducted on June 18 due to concerns raised by the education ministry about the exam's integrity being compromised.
According to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the question paper was leaked on the darknet and shared on the Telegram app. The CBI is currently investigating the matter.
The UGC-NET is a test used to ascertain eligibility for the Junior Research Fellowship, select assistant professors, and admit students to PhD programs.
In a shift from the earlier pattern, the exam was conducted in offline mode this year on a single day. However, the rescheduled exam will be conducted according to the earlier pattern of Computer-Based Tests (CBT) spread across a fortnight.
The CSIR UGC-NET, originally postponed due to concerns about exam irregularities, has been rescheduled to take place from July 25th to July 27th.
The CSIR UGC-NET is a valid qualification for admission to PhD programs in Chemical Sciences, Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Physical Sciences.
The National Common Entrance Test (NCET) for admission to the four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP), initially delayed just before its scheduled start on June 12, will now be held on July 10.
