Union ministers, including Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, J P Nadda, and Kiren Rijiju, convened a meeting on Friday, discussing the government's stance regarding several issues raised by the opposition, ahead of Parliament's Monsoon Session beginning from 21 July.
Ahead of the customary all-party meeting scheduled for Sunday, the Group of Ministers is believed to have discussed and planned the government's position on key issues. This comes as the opposition intensifies its criticism over matters such as the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, the Pahalgam terror attack, and Operation Sindoor.
There was no official comment on the agenda of the meeting, but sources said it was related to the session. Besides Defence Minister Singh, Home Minister Shah, Health Minister Nadda, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rijiju, their ministerial colleagues Piyush Goyal and G Kishan Reddy were among those who were part of the strategy session.

Opposition's push for debate on several issues -
The opposition has been calling for a debate in Parliament on important topics like Operation Sindoor and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Major opposition parties, such as the Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Trinamool Congress, have claimed that the SIR, which is anticipated to be expanded to additional states, is biased in favor of the BJP.
The decision of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in the poll-bound state of Bihar has been backed by the BJP and its allies, who say it is meant to guarantee that only eligible voters cast ballots in the next assembly elections. The all-party meeting is anticipated to be chaired by Rajnath Singh.
Additionally, they have criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration for allegedly mediating a "ceasefire" between India and Pakistan, a claim made by former US President Donald Trump. The government has rejected Trump's claim, but the opposition has been insisting on a debate and has even demanded a special session of Parliament over the issue. The government has termed Operation Sindoor a big success, which inflicted massive damage on terror sites and military facilities in Pakistan.
