The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has temporarily postponed the much-awaited notification for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026 and the Indian Forest Service (IFoS) Examination 2026, citing ‘administrative reasons’. Originally , the notification was scheduled to be released on January 14.
It raised expectations among lakhs of civil services aspirants across the country.So far, the UPSC is yet to inform when the notification will be out. The official website has taken down the previous reference to January 14 and currently shows that the notification has been postponed without giving any further explanation.
"The notification of Civil Services Examination, 2026 and Indian Forest Service Examination, 2026, scheduled to be notified on January 14, has now been postponed due to administrative reasons and the same will be notified in due course” UPSC notification mentioned.
UPSC CSE Prelims is scheduled to be held on May 24, 2026The UPSC in its announcement mentioned that the release date for both the notifications will be informed soon on the official website upsc.gov.in.The recruitment or examination notices incude key details about the registration dates, their processes, examination details, eligiblity and several other important criterias.
Notably, along with the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2025 notification, the Indian Forest Service (Preliminary) Examination, 2026 through CS(P) Examination 2026 notification was scheduled to be released today, January 14, 2026, but has been postponed.Once the notification is released, candidates will be able to submit their registration forms online within the specified date and time. According to the annual calendar, the last date for submitting the online application form is February 3, 2026.
