Anuj Agnihotri from Rajasthan secured the top rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025, as the Union Public Service Commission declared the final results on March 6.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Friday declared the final results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025, with Anuj Agnihotri securing the first rank and Rajeshwari Suve finishing second.

The results, announced on Friday, mark the culmination of months of evaluation after candidates cleared the preliminary examination, the main written examination and the personality test. Aspirants can check the final merit list on the commission’s official website.

A total of 958 candidates have been recommended for appointment to various civil services of the Government of India based on their combined performance in the written examination and the interview.

According to the commission, the selected candidates include 317 from the general category, 104 from the economically weaker sections (EWS), 306 from the Other Backward Classes (OBC), 158 from the Scheduled Castes (SC), and 73 from the Scheduled Tribes (ST).

The commission has also prepared a reserve list comprising 258 candidates across categories. This includes 129 candidates from the general category, 26 from EWS, 86 from OBC, eight from SC, six from ST and three from the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) category.

Through the Civil Services Examination, candidates are recruited into several prestigious services including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Revenue Service (IRS) and other Group A and Group B central services.

Service-wise vacancy distribution for the examination includes 180 posts in the IAS, 55 in the IFS and 150 in the IPS. In addition, 507 vacancies have been allocated for various Group ‘A’ central services and 195 for Group ‘B’ services.

The Civil Services Examination is widely regarded as one of the most competitive examinations in the country. Every year, lakhs of candidates appear for the exam, but only a small number succeed after clearing its three stages.

Candidates can access the final result in PDF format on the UPSC website, which lists the names and roll numbers of those recommended for appointment.

The commission has said that the marksheets of all candidates will be uploaded to its website within 15 days of the declaration of the final result. These will remain available online for 30 days.

Successful candidates will now be allocated services based on their rank, category and service preferences.
