Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasised a forward-thinking approach to equipping India's youth with skills in cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).
Speaking at an event marking Veer Bal Diwas, he outlined the critical role of youth-centric policies in the nation's development and highlighted the New Education Policy as a step in that direction.
“AI is taking centre stage, and we can see its application replacing conventional software. It is essential to make our youth future-ready to tackle these challenges,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister urged young Indians to work towards excellence in their respective fields, including railways, semiconductors, travel, and astronomy, underscoring their contribution to national progress.
Tribute to Sahibzadas
Modi also paid homage to Guru Gobind Singh's sons, the Sahibzadas, on Veer Bal Diwas, commemorating their bravery and sacrifice in the face of oppression by the Mughal Empire.
"More than 300 years ago, on December 26, the Sahibzadas, despite their tender age, displayed unparalleled bravery and sacrificed their lives. They rejected every temptation and endured unimaginable torture, showing that for them, the nation's cause was supreme,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister urged youngsters to draw inspiration from their legacy, noting that Veer Bal Diwas teaches the enduring value of putting the nation’s cause above all else.
He cited the connection between the teachings of India's Constitution and the principles espoused by spiritual leaders like Guru Gobind Singh.
“The Constitution teaches us that no one is small or big in the country,” he remarked.
Interaction with youth
The Prime Minister also interacted with recipients of the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, where 17 children from 14 states and Union Territories were recognised and picked to be awarded for their achievements in art, culture, innovation, bravery, and other fields.
“These children have demonstrated what India's youth are capable of achieving. I extend my best wishes to all the winners on behalf of the nation,” PM Modi said.
He elaborated on initiatives like the startup ecosystem and the space economy while affirming the government’s commitment to empowering young Indians.
“Our policies prioritise giving strength to the youth. From startups to science, sports to entrepreneurship, a new wave of transformation is happening,” he added.
On the occasion, the PM launched the 'Suposhit Gram Panchayat Abhiyan,' a community-driven programme to improve nutritional outcomes, which aligns with the government's broader goal of ensuring holistic well-being.
He also reiterated his call to bring one lakh youth with no political connections into politics, describing the initiative as critical for the nation’s next 25 years.
PM Modi noted that the 'Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue,' to be held on Swami Vivekananda's birth anniversary in January, would serve as a platform for youth to share ideas for a developed India.
“Whether it is the startup ecosystem, the future of the space economy, or sports and fitness, all our initiatives are youth-centric,” Modi concluded.
