Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated 'Prerna Sthal' at the Parliament House on Sunday. Alongside him were Speaker Om Birla, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, and other dignitaries who paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
The statues of great leaders and freedom fighters have been installed inside the Parliament House Complex, symbolising their significant contributions to India's history and freedom struggle. Previously, these statues were scattered across the complex, making it challenging for visitors to appreciate them properly.
With the inauguration of Prerna Sthal, these statues are now centrally located for the convenience of dignitaries and visitors. The aim is to provide a dedicated space where people can pay their respects to these iconic figures in one place.
Additionally, an action plan has been devised to leverage technology to share the life stories and messages of these leaders, inspiring visitors who come to the Parliament House Complex.
During the construction of the new Parliament Building, statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Motilal Nehru, and Chaudhary Devi Lal were relocated within the complex.
Now, with Prerna Sthal's establishment, lawns and gardens surround these statues, creating a serene environment for paying homage and drawing inspiration. QR codes will be available for visitors to access information about the lives of these great Indians.
The inauguration program included the unveiling of the Shilapatt (headstone), followed by floral tributes offered by dignitaries to the statues. Prerna Sthal stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of India's heroes, providing a space for reflection and remembrance within the Parliament House Complex.
