Delhi BJP President demands action over bogus voter registrations.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva on Thursday accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh of deceiving the public and violating electoral laws through the creation of bogus voter registrations.

According to Sachdeva, Singh has registered himself as a voter in multiple constituencies, including the Sultanpur Municipal Council in Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi Assembly, and Tilak Nagar Assembly constituencies, leading to concerns about fraudulent voting practices.

Sachdeva presented his claims backed by official government documents and municipal council voter lists, asserting that Singh’s name appeared in three separate places, a move which he argued undermined the integrity of the electoral system.

“We haven’t just made allegations; we have presented facts from official sources. Sanjay Singh is listed in three locations. It is he who needs to respond. He has cheated the Election Commission and violated the law,” Sachdeva said in an interview.

The BJP President also highlighted contradictions in Singh's statements, citing discrepancies that raised suspicions about his actions.

“On January 4, 2024, he claimed that his vote in Sultanpur Assembly had been removed, but just a few days later, on January 8, 2024, his wife submits an affidavit saying she has a vote in Sultanpur,” he pointed out. Sachdeva reminded that creating fake votes could lead to a one-year prison sentence under electoral law.

During a press conference, Sachdeva showed voter lists and affidavits to substantiate his claims, suggesting that Singh's actions were deliberate attempts to manipulate the electoral system.

He pointed to the fact that when Singh became a Rajya Sabha MP in 2018, his vote was registered in the Hari Nagar Assembly constituency. However, at the same time, his name appeared in the voter list for the Sultanpur Municipal Council.

"This is deceitful behaviour. A person who is filing an affidavit to claim residency in Hari Nagar also has a vote registered in Sultanpur," Sachdeva said.

Adding further weight to his allegations, Sachdeva revealed that Singh’s wife, Anita Singh, was also listed in the voter rolls for both Sultanpur Municipal Council and Hari Nagar Assembly.

This, according to Sachdeva, was part of a larger effort to create fraudulent votes in multiple locations. He also claimed that Singh had his name registered in both the New Delhi Assembly and Tilak Nagar Assembly constituencies.

“He wasn’t satisfied with just Hari Nagar and Sultanpur. He also registered in New Delhi and Tilak Nagar. This is what I call 'farjiwada' – a web of deceitful practices,” Sachdeva remarked.

The BJP leader called on both the Election Commission and Delhi Police to take immediate action and investigate these allegations of electoral malpractice.

Sachdeva stressed that such actions not only compromised the integrity of the election process but also pointed to a worrying trend within the AAP leadership.

In addition to accusing Singh, Sachdeva directed his criticism towards AAP’s National Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal. He accused the Delhi Chief Minister of avoiding core issues affecting the capital, such as water shortages, broken roads, and power failures.

“Kejriwal runs away from addressing important matters. He never talks about the dirty water, damaged roads, or electricity issues that plague Delhi. He will never discuss the scams he is involved in,” Sachdeva said.

Furthering his claims, Sachdeva also accused Kejriwal’s wife and the wife of Delhi Mayor Mahesh Kumar of having their votes registered in two different constituencies, calling it another example of electoral malpractice.
