President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday welcomed 15 young changemakers from across India to Rashtrapati Bhavan, where they presented innovative projects addressing critical challenges in rural and tribal regions.

The projects, developed in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), span domains such as sustainability, inclusion, and technological innovation.

The changemakers, guided by the UN-accredited non-profit organisation 1M1B, have been working in rural communities and tribal areas across states like Odisha, Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. Their efforts focus on uplifting marginalised communities while addressing pressing global concerns.

Among the young innovators was 21-year-old Telangana native Manal Muneer, founder of Project IntelliNexa, who demonstrated the application of AR/VR technology to promote rural tourism and spotlight lesser-known destinations in her state.

Sixteen-year-old Anirudh Chinta, the brain behind Project Drishti, showcased software designed to convert academic textbooks into Braille, benefiting visually impaired children in rural regions. “The project currently supports 8–10 NGOs,” Chinta shared.

Aditya Vikram, 18, and Fagun Bhutani, 14, co-founders of Vision Glasses, presented a device that translates eye gestures into speech, aiding over 2,000 non-verbal individuals in communication.

Another notable project, The Mowgli Movement, led by 17-year-old Shriya Muthukumar, has equipped forest communities with solar lamps while providing education on clean energy and environmental conservation.

Reflecting on the significance of their work, 1M1B founder Manav Subodh remarked, "We are empowering the next generation of innovators with the tools, mentoring, and platform to go beyond themselves and uplift their communities.

Skills and degrees matter, but so does the power of community development. Today’s meeting with Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, is a step forward in recognising these changemakers, inspiring millions across India—urban and rural—to rise, lead, and create lasting impact."

The interaction highlighted the vital role of youth-driven innovation in addressing India’s socio-economic challenges and achieving sustainable progress at the grassroots level.
