Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was detained this week by law enforcement in California, United States, according to sources from the Mumbai police. Born in 1999 in Punjab's Abohar tehsil, Firozpur district, Anmol, also known as 'Bhanu,' was believed to be living in Canada and making regular trips to the United States.

After Lawrence's arrest in 2015, Anmol formed his own gang with local youths in Abohar and since then his name has been heard in several high-profile crimes.

Criminal cases against Anmol:

Anmol is currently facing 32 criminal cases, including murder, extortion, and abduction. Of these, 20 cases are lodged in Rajasthan. The first case against him was filed when he was 13 years old, in 2012, under the Arms Act, with his brother Lawrence being the main accused. Anmol was arrested but later bailed out.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for information leading to Anmol's arrest.

In 2017, Rajasthan police arrested him for firing outside the office of a businessman in Jodhpur. He secured bail in 2019.

Wanted in high profile cases:

Anmol is wanted in connection with several criminal cases, including the murder of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Siddique on October 12 in Mumbai's Bandra area. He was also allegedly behind the firing outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's home in Bandra on April 14 this year, according to the sources.

Earlier this month, an official stated that the Mumbai police had sent a proposal to the Centre for the extradition of Anmol Bishnoi. He has also been named in an FIR filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), India's counter-terrorism law enforcement agency.

The proposal was sent after U.S. authorities informed the Mumbai police about Anmol Bishnoi’s presence in their country, the official said on November 2.

Anmol's escape from India:

Anmol Bishnoi escaped India in November 2022 via Dubai, using a fake passport, six months after 28-year-old singer Sidhu Moosewala was gunned down.

Anmol was last spotted at a wedding in California in 2023, where Punjabi singers Sharry Mann and Karan Aujla performed. Both singers stated that they had no knowledge of Anmol’s presence at the wedding, as they were there only as performers.

Before the wedding event, Anmol had been seen in New York as well.

Anmol’s main task was managing the Bishnoi gang’s investments in overseas countries. He has invested the gang’s money in sports clubs and real estate businesses abroad.

Early life of Anmol Bishnoi:

Anmol is the son of Lovinder Singh and Sunita Bishnoi. His family is well-off, with his mother being an educated housewife and his father serving as a police official.

Anmol’s nephew, Sachin Bishnoi, is also believed to be involved in criminal activities.

Raised in rural Punjab, Anmol attended Sachkhand Convent School in Abohar, where he showed promise as a boxer. However, he was ultimately drawn to a life of crime, heavily influenced by his elder brother.
