Women Reservation Bill Marks Historic Milestone for India Says VP Dhankhar In Jaipur.

In a recent address at the India International School in Jaipur, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar emphasised the critical role of women’s education in building a prosperous nation. He remarked that a developed India, or "Viksit Bharat," cannot be envisioned without prioritising the education of women.

Dhankhar described women and education as the two essential wheels of the chariot that will steer the nation towards progress. During his interaction with students and faculty members, the Vice President underscored the transformative power of education.

He stated that education serves as the greatest equaliser in society, fostering equality and ensuring the success of democracy. Education cuts through social inequities, providing the necessary foundation for a thriving democratic environment. He eloquently noted that education is akin to oxygen for democracy, vital for its survival and growth.

Delving into the historical context, Dhankhar reflected on the Vedas, where a strong emphasis was placed on women's education and participation. He lamented that society had deviated from this path over time.

In the Vedic era, women held prominent roles as policymakers and decision-makers, actively guiding societal development. This historical reference served to highlight the need to restore women's significance in today's society.

The Vice President also hailed the recently enacted Women Reservation Bill, which mandates a one-third reservation for women in Parliament and State Legislatures.

He described this development as epochal and historic, asserting that women will now play crucial roles in policy-making, legislation, and executive functions. This move, he argued, signifies a monumental change, empowering women to become driving forces in shaping the nation's future.

Dhankhar commended the National Education Policy (NEP) for its focus on delivering quality and purposeful education. He stressed that true change can only occur through education that transcends mere degree attainment.

The pursuit of knowledge should not solely revolve around acquiring degrees but should instead emphasise skill development and talent exploitation. He pointed out that the new national education policy facilitates a shift away from degree-oriented education toward a more holistic approach that nurtures students' abilities and aspirations.

Highlighting the vital role of youth in achieving the vision of a developed nation by 2047, Dhankhar noted that the elements necessary for progress are already present in India. He expressed optimism about the opportunities available for individuals to harness their potential and realise their dreams, emphasising that the country is equipped to support this aspiration.

In addition to education, the Vice President addressed the issue of corruption in the country. He condemned a society where corrupt practices dictate opportunities for employment and contracts, asserting that such a culture undermines the potential of youth.

Dhankhar stressed that corruption erodes talent and neutralises meritocracy, impeding the nation’s progress. He acknowledged that significant strides have been made in cleansing power corridors of corrupt elements.

Transparency and accountability in governance have improved, largely due to technological advancements that allow direct money transfers to beneficiaries without intermediaries.
