'Working to build India as envisioned by Netaji': PM on Parakram Divas

Leaders across India paid tribute to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on Parakram Diwas, honouring his indomitable spirit and contributions to India’s freedom movement. Over the next three days, celebrations will take place across the nation commemorating his legacy with events, exhibitions, and cultural performances.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to legendary freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his 128th birth anniversary, commemorated as Parakram Diwas.

 

Alongside Home Minister Amit Shah and other leaders, PM Modi acknowledged Bose's unparalleled contribution to India's freedom movement, highlighting his vision and indomitable spirit.

 

A grand celebration will be held at Barabati Fort in Cuttack from January 23-25, featuring exhibitions and cultural performances.

 

PM Modi stated, "Today, on Parakram Diwas, I pay homage to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. His contribution to India's freedom movement is unparalleled. He epitomised courage and grit. His vision continues to motivate us as we work towards building the India he envisioned."

 

 

President Droupadi Murmu also paid tribute to Netaji Bose, recognising his significant contributions to India’s freedom struggle. In a social media post, she stated, “On the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, observed as Parakram Diwas, I humbly pay my respects to one of Bharat Mata’s greatest sons.” She further emphasised Bose’s leadership of the Azad Hind Fauj and his unwavering determination, which continues to inspire future generations.

 

 

Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tributes, saying, "On the birth anniversary of the great leader of the freedom struggle, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, I remember him and pay my tribute to him. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was a reflection of indomitable courage, determination and fearlessness. His life will always be remembered as an indelible symbol of patriotism, sacrifice and inspiration."

 

 

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, also offered heartfelt tributes.

"Heartfelt tribute to the great revolutionary, founder of Azad Hind Fauj, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary. Netaji's leadership, courage, his struggle for social justice, his contribution towards tolerance and inclusion continue to inspire every Indian even today. My respectful salute to the immortal son of Mother India, Jai Hind!", Gandhi maintained.

 

 

Born on January 23, 1897, in Cuttack, Odisha, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose stands as a remarkable symbol of patriotism and courage.

 

In 2021, the Government of India officially declared his birth anniversary as ‘Parakram Diwas’ to honour his immense contributions to India’s freedom struggle.

 

The day aims to inspire citizens, especially the youth, to embody his bravery and dedication to the nation.

 

This year, a grand three-day celebration will take place from January 23-25 at Barabati Fort in Cuttack, showcasing exhibitions, cultural performances, and paying tribute to Netaji's legacy.

The event will start with the Chief Minister, Odisha and other dignitaries paying homage to Netaji and hoisting the National Flag at the house where Netaji was born, which has now been converted into a Museum dedicated to him.

Subsequently, the Parakram Diwas celebration at Barabati Fort will begin with a video message by the Prime Minister and will feature a Book, Photo and Archival exhibition focused on Netaji's life, showcasing rare photographs, letters and documents as well as an AR/VR display chronicling his remarkable journey.

 

A Sculpture workshop and a painting competition-cum-workshop are also being planned for the occasion.

 

The event will also feature cultural performances honouring Netaji's legacy and highlighting the rich cultural tradition of Odisha. Besides, films on Netaji's life will also be screened during the event.
