As the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections-2024 began in Srinagar on May 13, three generations of the Abdullah family led by National Conference stalwart Dr Farooq Abdullah voted on Monday.

Dr Abdullah’s son, Omar Abdullah, and grandsons  Zahir Abdullah and Zamir Abdullah, cast their votes at a polling station set up at Burnhall School in Srinagar's Sonawar neighbourhood.

Speaking to reporters later, Dr Farooq Abdullah said, "It is sad that they say there is no violence and everything is smooth, but the workers of our party have been locked up for two days."

He said he would “want to ask the Union Home Minister and Prime Minister Modi why our workers have been detained. Are they terrified of losing? They will lose."

NC Vice President and former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah said people could only raise their voice by voting.
