Indian man cooks roti and sabzi in one kadhai, goes viral

Viewer jokes 'LHS = RHS' after watching viral Indian cooking video on Instagram.

News Arena Network - New Delhi - UPDATED: May 5, 2025, 07:01 AM - 2 min read

The video has garnered an impressive 122 million views.

In a world filled with quirky food videos, one clip has caught the attention of both cooking enthusiasts and meme lovers alike for its sheer creativity. The video, now widely circulating on Instagram, shows an Indian man preparing an entire meal—roti and sabzi—using just a single kadhai (a deep cooking pot).

What makes this video stand out is the man's innovative approach. He divides the kadhai into two sections by using a simple barrier made from aata (wheat flour) dough.

On one side of the kadhai, he cooks a spicy potato curry, while on the other, he effortlessly flips rotis. This technique, a perfect example of jugaad—a clever and resourceful solution often employed in Indian households—has amazed viewers with its simplicity and efficiency.

The video has become a viral sensation, amassing an astonishing 122 million views within just five days of being posted.

Social media users have been quick to react, with many leaving humorous and appreciative comments. Actress Parul Gulati wrote, "My Insta feed never fails to surprise me... East or west, India is the best." Another user joked, "How I multitask," while one added, "Cooking (no), technologyia (yes)." A particularly popular comment read, "LHS = RHS," referencing the clever division of the kadhai, and another user humorously quipped, "This technology should not go outside India."

Building on the success of his first video, the man shared a follow-up video in which he takes the concept even further. In this new clip, which has garnered 85 million views, he manages to cook three separate dishes in the same kadhai: rice, aloo curry, and a third gravy-based dish. The dough barrier proves so effective that the liquids from each dish remain entirely separate, demonstrating an even greater level of ingenuity.

These videos not only showcase a unique method of cooking but also highlight the creative spirit and resourcefulness often seen in everyday Indian kitchens.
