A Texas-based woman, originally from Pakistan, has gone viral after sharing a harrowing experience at a gas station that could have ended in tragedy. Roohi Anwar posted a video on Instagram capturing the moment a routine stop to refuel her car turned unexpectedly dangerous.
In the video, Anwar is seen at the pump when gasoline suddenly splashes across her face and body. Despite the shock, she remained composed and reacted swiftly, grabbing a water bottle from her car to wash off the fuel and minimise any potential harm. Recounting the incident, Anwar wrote, “Last night around midnight, I went to fill gas—something I do every week without thinking twice. But this time, I accidentally pulled the nozzle while pressing, and gas splashed all over my face and body. Alhamdulillah, I had water in the car and acted fast."
Using her platform to raise awareness, she added, “I’m sharing this because accidents happen—even during routine tasks. Please be careful and stay alert at the pump. It only takes a second." Since being posted on July 2, the video has garnered over 1.71 lakh views. While many viewers expressed concern and relief over her safety, some questioned the authenticity of the video.
One user commented, “Glad you are safe.” Another wrote, “Omg… meri tu jaan hi nikal gayi. This is so, so scary. I never imagined something like this could even happen." A third said, “Terrifying! I’m so thankful that you are okay!”

However, skepticism also surfaced in the comments. Some viewers questioned why the incident was being filmed in the first place. One user asked, “Just wondering why did you plan to film it in the first place?" Another added, “And you were recording at that time? You did that on purpose.” A similar comment read, “I just want to know why you were recording.” The video has sparked a broader discussion around safety precautions at fuel stations and how quickly accidents can occur during everyday tasks.
In an unrelated but equally shocking incident, a woman in Uttar Pradesh, India, pulled out a revolver on a fuel pump attendant. The confrontation reportedly stemmed from a dispute involving her father. The incident took place on June 15 at an HP CNG fuel station on Sandi Road, about two kilometres from Bilgram town in Hardoi district. A video of that incident has also gone viral online.
