Dalit capital to OBC stronghold: PM Modi, Adityanath, Shah lead BJP's campaigns in UP

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gearing up for an extensive campaign blitz in western Uttar Pradesh in the coming days, with a series of rallies and roadshows planned.

Having already addressed three rallies in Meerut, Saharanpur, and Pilibhit, he is scheduled to undertake at least four more rallies and a roadshow starting from April 19 in Amroha, a constituency slated for polls in the second phase on April 26.

Amroha holds significance as one of the 16 Lok Sabha seats lost by the BJP in 2019. According to a senior party official, the influence of PM Modi's rallies extends beyond individual constituencies, impacting adjoining regions as well. Hence, meticulous planning is underway to maximize the reach and benefit several candidates.

The demand for rallies extends to other prominent leaders like Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

However, accommodating all requests proves challenging due to the vast demand. The objective remains to optimize the impact by strategically arranging rallies.

Amroha, where the sitting BSP MP Kunwar Danish Ali is now contesting as a Congress candidate, will witness PM Modi supporting BJP candidate Kanwar Singh Tanwar.

Following PM Modi's event, Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav are set to hold a joint rally in the same constituency, indicating the counterbalancing strategies of rival parties.

Post-Amroha, PM Modi is expected to rally support for BJP candidates in Hathras and Aligarh on April 22, both seats having substantial Dalit and minority populations.

This will be followed by rallies in Agra and Fatehpur Sikri on April 25, with Agra being referred to as the "Dalit capital" due to its significant Jatav population.

The campaign momentum continues with another rally for BJP candidates in Bareilly, Aonla, and Shahjahanpur on April 25, culminating in a roadshow in Bareilly on April 26.

In Bareilly, the BJP has replaced its formidable sitting OBC MP Santosh Gangwar, who had won eight times, including six consecutive terms.
