Anshu Malik falls to 2-7, repechage hopes alive

In a brutally led match by Helen, where she gave no chance to Anshu Malik, and won the bout comfortably leading with 7-2, had Anshu eliminated from the Paris Olympics.

Anshu Malik falls to 2-7, repechage hopes alive

India's Anshu competes with USA's Helen Maroulis during women's freestyle 57kg wrestling pre-quarterfinal match at the 2024 Summer Olympics, in Paris, France, Thursday


Anshu Malik lost to USA’s Helen Louise Maroulis with a score of 2-7 in the pre-quarters match on Thursday at the Paris Olympics. She will now have to wait for Helen to reach the final so that a spot for bronze is emptied for her to compete. 

 

In a brutally led match by Helen, where she gave no chance to Anshu Malik, and won the bout comfortably leading with 7-2, had Anshu eliminated from the Paris Olympics. 

 

The first half of the match ended with Anshu at zero, Helen maintained her stance in the second set as well, trailing Anshu Malik at zero throughout the bout until two technical points to Anshu and a yellow card warning for Helen, awaited. 

 

Repechage hopes are still alive as Helen is heading towards semi-finals, wrestler from USA will take on Japan’s Tsugumi Sakurai, and if she gets to the finals then Anshu’s spot for the bronze medal will be confirmed.
