Kishore Jena, the other Indian competitor, is unlikely to secure a spot in the 12-man final after achieving a best throw of 80.73m.
Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan, who is the reigning Commonwealth Games champion, also secured a spot in the finals with a throw of 86.59m.
