Uddhav Sena MP Aaditya Thackeray on Thursday announced in Mumbai that his party would soon unveil a significant "exposé" targeting alleged irregularities by the Election Commission during the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections.
Drawing parallels to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent accusations against the poll body, Thackeray promised to reveal critical flaws in the Election Commission’s conduct, likening the forthcoming disclosure to a “Rahul Gandhi-like expose”.
When pressed for details on the timing of this revelation, Thackeray remained cryptic, stating, “We can’t reveal the timings of the surgical strikes.” He elaborated on his party’s prior concerns, noting, “We have already written to the EC before the elections last year over the sudden spike in voters, about missing voters and why the booths have been mismanaged. We will have a press conference…” This statement underscored ongoing grievances about the management of the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections.
Thackeray’s remarks follow a series of sharp criticisms by Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, who has accused the Election Commission of significant lapses. Gandhi has pointed to issues such as voter name deletions in Karnataka and inflated voter turnout figures in Maharashtra.

In a bold claim, Gandhi stated he has yet to reveal the “hydrogen bomb,” alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was involved in “vote theft” to secure victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The controversy gained traction in July 2025 when Rahul Gandhi shared an op-ed titled “Match-Fixing Maharashtra” on X, published in national daily. In the article, titled “How to steal an election?”, Gandhi outlined what he described as a five-step process employed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to manipulate the Maharashtra Assembly election results.
He further alleged that the Narendra Modi government introduced an amended act in 2023 to appoint Election Commissioners, a move he claimed heavily favoured the Central government and compromised the impartiality of the poll body.
With the Mumbai civic polls approaching, Aaditya Thackeray’s warning signals an escalating confrontation with the Election Commission. He indicated that his party’s forthcoming exposé, inspired by Gandhi’s approach, would shed light on alleged manipulations in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, aiming to hold the poll body accountable and ensure transparency in future electoral processes.
