He advised that if the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam wanted to be an alternative force, it should take politics seriously and demonstrate its intentions by working around the clock.

Actor-politician Vijay cannot claim his party, the TVK, to be a viable alternative to the DMK when he is politically active only on weekends, according to Bharatiya Janata Party leader K Annamalai.

He argued that politics requires a continuous devotion of energy. The former BJP state chief asserted that only the BJP, whose leaders and workers are present in the field throughout the year, could provide a genuine alternative to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.

“Even the leader of the Opposition AIADMK (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam), Edappadi K Palaniswami, is actively travelling around the state, addressing rallies in various districts. Vijay becomes active only during the weekends. One should take politics seriously and involve oneself on a daily basis," said Annamalai while addressing the media.

He advised that if the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) wanted to be an alternative force, it should take politics seriously and demonstrate its intentions through actions by working around the clock.

“But Vijay meets people on Saturdays and Sundays,” said Annamalai, adding that the public believed the National Democratic Alliance to be the true alternative to the DMK.
