Actor Vijay, who leads Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), will launch an extensive election campaign across Tamil Nadu from September 13, which will continue till December 20, 2025. The campaign will, reportedly, cover all 38 districts, with Vijay meeting voters directly at public events.

Most of the events will take place on Saturdays, with only one programme scheduled for a Sunday.

The tour will kick off on September 13 in Trichy, Perambalur, and Ariyalur. On September 20, he will visit Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, and Mayiladuthurai, followed by Thiruvallur and North Chennai on September 27.

In early October, Vijay is scheduled to address voters in Coimbatore, The Nilgiris, Tiruppur, and Erode. He will then head to Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, and Thoothukudi on October 11, and Kancheepuram, Vellore, and Ranipet on October 18.

The campaign continues with visits to South Chennai and Chengalpattu on October 25. There will be stops at in Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, and Tirupattur on November 1, and Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, and Villupuram on November 8. The campaign will also stop in Tenkasi and Virudhunagar on November 15, Cuddalore on November 22, and Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram on November 29.

The final leg of the tour begins on December 6 in Thanjavur and Pudukkottai. Vijay will then visit Salem, Namakkal, and Karur on December 13, before the campaign concludes on December 20 in Dindigul, Theni, and Madurai.

In anticipation of the tour, TVK General Secretary N Anand has written to the Tamil Nadu Director-General of Police to request security and traffic management for all of the campaign events. Vijay himself had previously written to the DGP seeking protection for his first statewide political tour, requesting “adequate police security and traffic regulation” during the meetings.

The tour will be Vijay's third major political mobilisation after two high-profile conferences that attracted wide support, particularly from youngsters.

The actor-politician aims to reach out to voters personally to build the TVK base in the run-up to the next polls.

Vijay has been unambiguous in his political orientation, labelling the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam as his 'political enemy' and the Bharatiya Janata Party as his 'ideological enemy'. He also criticised the AIADMK (All India Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) for its alliance with the BJP.

Invoking significant moments in Tamil Nadu's political history, Vijay has stated his belief that the 2026 election will mirror the 1967 and 1977 elections— when the DMK, led by Annadurai, ended the Congress's dominance, and when MGR later unseated the DMK to form his own government. By referencing these key moments, Vijay has expressed confidence that he will "make a wave" of his own and come to power in 2026.

While many successful actors, including Sivaji Ganesan, Vijayakanth, Sarathkumar, and Kamal Haasan, have failed to become Chief Ministers after MGR and Jayalalithaa, and superstar Rajinikanth opted out of politics entirely, Vijay's team believes his situation is different. They argue that his current popularity will convert to mass votes.
