The Enforcement Directorate (ED)'s charge sheet against Robert Vadra is an attempt to stain his, Congress's, and the Gandhi family's name, said the grand old party's President Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday. Indian businessman Robert Vadra is married to Priyanka Gandhi, Congress MP for Wayanad.
ED on Thursday filed a charge sheet against Robert in a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in a land deal in Shikohpur, Haryana.
"What has been done to Vadra is to take revenge on a person, to target a party, they are doing all this. It is done as part of an attempt to bring a bad name to the Vadra and Gandhi family. They will never be successful in it. There are courts. The trouble that is being given to Vadra is not right. We all support his good work," the Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge told the media.
Further replying to a question on the BJP accusing Congress of supporting "land jihad", the Congress chief stated, "I don't know what land jihad is. If they want to take any action against me, welcome, let them take it. Whenever they take action, I will then respond to it."

ED's charge sheet comes after Robert Vadra, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, local real estate dealer DLF, and then-Chief Manohar Lal Khattar were named in a case that was first filed in September 2018.
Serious accusations of corruption, cheating, and forgery are included in the FIR that was filed at the time. The Enforcement Directorate claims that in February 2008, Vadra's company paid ₹7.5 crore to Omkareshwar Properties for a 3.5-acre plot in Shikohpur village, Gurugram. Later, the same land was sold for ₹58 crore to DLF, a major player in the real estate market.
