In a major blow to ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha in Jharkhand party’s senior leader cum MLA of Jama constituency in State Sita Soren today resigned from the party and Jharkhand Assembly.

 

Sita, who is the daughter in law of JMM supremo and Rajya Sabha MP Shibu Soren, was unhappy with the party not giving him due recognition and was raising her voice against the policies of the party from time to time.

 

Sita Soren has also written to Jharkhand Assembly Speaker tendering her resignation from the membership of House on moral grounds. However, the Speaker is yet to accept his resignation.

 

In her letter to party chief Shibu Soren Sita said, “I, Sita Soren, Central General Secretary of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and active member and current MLA, am presenting my resignation before you with a very sad heart. Since the death of my husband Durga Soren, who was a leading warrior of the Jharkhand movement and a great revolutionary, I and my family have been victims of continuous neglect.”

 

“We have been isolated by the party and family members, which has been extremely painful for me. I had hoped that the situation would improve with time, but unfortunately it did not happen. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha was made a great party by my husband on the strength of his sacrifice, dedication and leadership ability, today that party is no more. I am deeply saddened to see that the party has now gone into the hands of those whose vision and objectives Do not match our values and ideals,” she said.

 

“Despite the tireless efforts of Shibu Soren (Guruji Baba) who worked hard to keep us all together, unfortunately his efforts also failed. I have recently come to know that there is a deep conspiracy is being made against me and my family. I have firmly decided that I will have to leave Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and this family. Therefore, I am resigning from my primary membership and request you to accept my resignation,” said the JMM leader.

 

Sita Soren was unhappy with the party continuously ignoring her in the government as she was not made a minister in the Hemant Soren led government and later in the Champai Soren government also she was not given the ministerial berth, rather Hemant’s younger brother Basant Soren was made a minister.

 

Reacting to the development, the State BJP unit said it was the internal matter of the JMM. Party’s senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Deepak Prakash said that it is very sad that such a senior leader of JMM had to face politics within the family.

 

He said although it’s an internal matter of the JMM, BJP always welcomes leaders with development oriented thinking.
