The political landscape of Bihar may soon witness a new entrant from a prominent political family. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, is set to formally enter politics, state minister and JD(U) leader Shravan Kumar announced on Tuesday.
Shravan described the development as 'great news'. He stated, “On the occasion of Holi, I am going to give you some great news. Nishant Kumar is going to enter politics.” When asked whether Nishant could be nominated to the Rajya Sabha, the minister responded cautiously, by saying, “Anything can happen.”
According to Shravan, Nishant’s political debut fulfils a long-standing demand from young supporters who have been urging him to step into public life.
“Since people have been suggesting and demanding him for a long time, this step will fulfil the long-standing desire of many young people who have been asking him to enter politics. I wish him a bright future as he continues his political journey,” he added.
The JD(U) leader further indicated that Nishant is likely to be entrusted with a significant responsibility within the party. “He will be given a bigger responsibility in the party. What responsibility he is going to get will be decided in a day or two,” he said.
Shravan had previously hinted at Nishant’s possible political entry, noting that he possesses the necessary qualifications and capability. However, he had also emphasised that both Nishant and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would need to take a final decision before any formal move. With this announcement, speculation has intensified over the role Nishant may assume in Bihar’s political arena.
