Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister, Samrat Choudhary, has assured investors that the state is fully prepared to create a strong business ecosystem, backed by improved infrastructure and a better law and order situation.
He also reassured both domestic and global businesses that their investments are "safe."
In an interview with PTI, Choudhary, who also serves as the finance minister, outlined the steps being taken by the state government to change Bihar's image and attract investments, aiming to create job opportunities and boost economic growth.
To attract investments, the state government is organising the 'Bihar Business Connect' Summit on December 19-20. Choudhary said, "With the guidance of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bihar is ready to create a strong business environment. We will stand with you and provide all the support needed for your success."
He invited both domestic and international companies to visit Bihar and assured them of government collaboration for mutual growth. Choudhary also emphasised that Bihar is a "safe state" with strong infrastructure.
The Deputy CM revealed that the state is working on increasing its power capacity from around 3,800 MW to 8,000 MW. "We will ensure full electricity supply, offer subsidies, and provide various incentives to help investors grow," he added.

The government is offering incentives for setting up industries, including subsidies on electricity and GST exemptions. Choudhary highlighted food processing as a key area for investment, particularly in the 38 districts, each with its own unique product identity.
He also mentioned the state's recent approval for a 3.6 million liter ethanol manufacturing capacity and the need for more ethanol plants, which would benefit farmers by providing direct sales opportunities for their crops.
Choudhary stressed the importance of promoting MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) and supporting Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to generate local employment.
He also emphasised the state’s focus on skill development to ensure a skilled workforce for new factories.
On infrastructure, Choudhary noted that two airports have recently become operational in Bihar, with more under development. He mentioned the completion of Purnia and Bihta airports, and the ongoing work at Raxaul airport.
The state is also working on improving road, air, and waterway connectivity. Additionally, the government is addressing flood management in north Bihar and water scarcity in south Bihar.
