Former State BJP President and Lok Sabha MP from Shimla, Suresh Kashyap, along with state BJP Vice President and Lok Sabha MP from Kangra, Dr Rajeev Bhardwaj, launched a scathing attack on the Congress government over rampant corruption, administrative collapse and growing lawlessness in Himachal Pradesh.
In a joint statement, the BJP leaders said the state was witnessing one of the worst phases of misgovernance in its history. Kashyap and Bhardwaj said that corruption and administrative disorder had reached alarming levels under the Congress regime, where neither public funds were safe nor constitutional discipline was being upheld.
They referred to irregularities in the Rs 36.77 crore GI pipe procurement process in the Jal Shakti Department during 2024–25 as clear evidence of systemic corruption under political patronage. They said, according to official screening committee reports, 4,770 metric tones of GI pipes were procured in gross violation of tender norms.
They alleged that mandatory procedures—such as weighing, dispatch, and transshipment in the presence of Civil Supplies Corporation representatives—were completely ignored. No videography, no official presence, and no statutory compliance were recorded, according to them. Documents further reveal fake e-way bills, suspicious transshipment records, and manipulation involving 12.550 MT and 13.150 MT of material, pointing towards possible collusion, document tampering, and a large-scale scam.
The BJP leaders questioned as to why, despite such serious findings being officially recorded, no concrete action had been taken against the responsible officers or political protectors. He stated that merely withholding around Rs 22 crore in payments was eyewash, not accountability.
“Had BJP not persistently raised this issue, this scam too would have been buried in files,” they said, accusing the Congress government of indulging in cover-ups instead of enforcing accountability.
Highlighting the collapse of administrative discipline, the BJP leaders condemned the recent controversial statements and social media posts under political protection. He said such irresponsible remarks against senior officers from outside the state were not only against constitutional norms but also posed a serious threat to Himachal’s social harmony, administrative unity, and cultural ethos.
They emphasised that Himachal Pradesh, known as Devbhoomi, had always welcomed officers and employees from across the country who had served with dedication and integrity. Attempts to provoke regional sentiments, undermine institutions, and politicise administration are dangerous and unacceptable.
“Either the Chief Minister is endorsing these actions, or he has completely lost control over his government and administration,” they said, adding that both scenarios were equally disastrous for democracy, constitutional governance, and the future of Himachal Pradesh. They warned that unchecked corruption, indiscipline, and politically protected lawlessness would erode public trust and damage the state’s administrative foundations. The BJP leaders made it clear that the party would not tolerate attacks on constitutional values, administrative dignity, or the interests of the people of Himachal.
The BJP leaders categorically stated that the party would raise these issues from the streets to the Assembly and, if required, before judicial forums, until justice was delivered. They demanded an independent and time-bound probe into the GI pipe procurement scam, strict action against guilty officers and those providing political protection, and immediate accountability for statements and actions that violate administrative and constitutional norms.
They concluded by asserting that the Congress government may try every possible tactic to deflect blame, but the BJP would continue to expose corruption, misgovernance, and administrative anarchy in the Congress regime, standing firmly with the people of Himachal Pradesh.
