The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) officially on Thursday launched its campaign preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu by appointing senior leaders to oversee its strategies in these states. The announcement underscores the party’s determination to strengthen its position in these crucial electoral battlegrounds.

For the high-stakes Bihar assembly elections, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has been named the in-charge. He will be supported by two co-in-charges: Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil and Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya. The BJP, as the senior-most ally in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar, aims to retain power under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of the Janata Dal (United) (JDU).

In West Bengal, Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, known for his successful track record in electoral campaigns, has been appointed as the in-charge. He will be assisted by former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb as co-in-charge. The BJP is eyeing significant gains in the state, where it seeks to expand its influence in the upcoming polls.

For Tamil Nadu, where the BJP currently has limited presence, the party has entrusted its national vice president in charge of Delhi, Baijayant Panda, with the role of in-charge. He will be supported by Murlidhar Mohol, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, as co-in-charge. The BJP is aiming to make inroads in the state, leveraging its leadership to build a stronger foothold.

These appointments reflect the BJP’s strategic focus on mobilising its senior leadership to drive robust campaigns in Bihar, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu, with the goal of retaining power in Bihar, achieving major gains in West Bengal, and establishing a presence in Tamil Nadu’s competitive political landscape.
