BJP has accused J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of having ‘hidden agreements and secret dealings’ with Delhi in the past and that he had reached out to NDA government led by Prime Minister Narender Modi after 2014 elections.

On last day of campaigning for bypolls on two seats in J&K, political attacks reached crescendo with NC attacking rivals  BJP and PDP.  Following Omar Abdullah's steady attack on the ruling party at the Centre, BJP leader Sunil Sharma on Sunday claimed the chief minister reached out to the party after the 2014 elections. Sharma dared him to take an oath that he had no "secret dealings" with the Narendra Modi-led government.

While addressing an election rally in support of BJP candidate Syed Mohsin in Budgam, Sharma, who is the leader of the opposition in the assembly, called on Abdullah to publicly affirm that there were no hidden agreements with Delhi.

Sharma claimed that after the 2014 assembly elections, Abdullah made attempts to ally with the BJP. "However, our leadership, guided by principles and national integrity, refused such opportunistic overtures," Sharma said. He said the unprecedented turnout is a testimony to the people's faith in the BJP's vision of peace, progress and development.

Sharma accused the National Conference (NC) of resorting to deceit and double standards to obstruct the BJP's rise in Kashmir. "The NC is leaving no stone unturned to block the wave of change, but people have seen through their politics of hypocrisy," he added. The bitterness between the parties is nothing new as chief minister Omar Abdullah during the last few days has sharpened its attack against BJP on several counts.

On Saturday accused ally Congress and opposition PDP of not fielding candidates against BJP in an upcoming assembly bypoll in Jammu’s Nagrota, asserting it was only his National Conference (NC) that was taking on the saffron party across the Union territory.

Omar made the comments ahead of November 11 bypolls in Nagrota and Budgam, where he and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti intensified their campaigns. The CM accused PDP of maintaining friendly ties with BJP, citing the past alliance between the two parties. Mehbooba slammed Omar’s one-year-old government as a failure.
