Despite losing the Rajasthan assembly elections to the Congress in December 2018, the BJP secured 24 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, with the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP), its ally, winning the remaining seat.
Presently in power in the state, the BJP is riding a wave of momentum. The Congress, which performed well in eastern Rajasthan during the 2018 assembly polls, suffered setbacks in the subsequent parliamentary elections.
The Gurjar community's support for the Congress dwindled when their expectation of Sachin Pilot, a community member, becoming the state's chief minister wasn't met. Consequently, the BJP swept all seats in the region during the Lok Sabha polls, although with narrower margins in three eastern Rajasthan constituencies.
In Dausa, Jaskaur Meena won with a margin of 78,444 votes, Manoj Rajoria secured Karauli-Dholpur with a margin of 97,682 votes, and Sukhbir Singh Jaunapuria clinched Tonk-Sawai Madhopur with a margin of 1,11,291 votes. Sachin Pilot, who hails from the Gurjar community, won his first assembly election from Tonk in 2018.
In the Marwar region, the Congress faced a significant defeat in Jodhpur during the parliamentary elections, where Vaibhav Gehlot, son of then-Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, lost by 2,74,440 votes to Gajendra Shekhawat of the BJP.
Shekhawat, now contesting again from Jodhpur, has been its MP since 2014. The BJP, in 2019, left the Nagaur seat for its ally Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP), headed by Hanuman Beniwal, who won by 1,81,260 votes. Jyoti Mirdha, now with the BJP, is contesting from Nagaur.
In the Mewar region, the Bhartiya Tribal Party made significant gains in the 2018 assembly elections, winning two seats. However, the BJP managed to sway voters in its favor during the subsequent Lok Sabha elections, securing high margins in Banswara (3,05,464 votes), Chittorgarh (5,76,247), Udaipur (4,37,914), and Rajsamand (5,51,916).
In the Hadoti region, the BJP maintained its influence, winning the Kota-Bundi (Om Birla) and Jhalawar-Baran (Dushyant Singh) seats. Dushyant Singh, son of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, secured his seat with a margin of 4,53,928 votes.
In northern Rajasthan (Bikaner, Ganganagar) and the Shekhawati region (Churu, Sikar, Jhunjhunu), the BJP secured comfortable victories with margins close to three lakhs in each seat.
