BJP silent on Bangladesh-Pakistan ties, says Owaisi

Owaisi criticises BJP for ignoring growing Bangladesh-Pakistan-China ties and focusing only on illegal immigration, while also backing Maratha quota protests.

Hyderabad MP and leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Asaduddin Owaisi.

Hyderabad MP and leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Asaduddin Owaisi, has criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for what he described as its selective outrage over illegal immigrants from Bangladesh while keeping quiet about more significant geopolitical developments involving China, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

At a rally in Parbhani, Maharashtra, Asaduddin Owaisi charged that the BJP was not aware of the changing security risks along India's borders. He said, "They are shouting about Bangladeshis settling illegally in India all the time. However, what are the Border Security Force (BSF), intelligence services, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah doing?"

Owaisi asserted that military cooperation between Bangladesh and Pakistan, including joint naval exercises, has significantly increased since the establishment of the interim government in Bangladesh under Mohammad Yunus. He also claimed that China is allegedly building an airbase close to the Bangladeshi border and that Pakistani leaders have been meeting with their Bangladeshi counterparts. He further cautioned, "India will have to face it on three fronts if a war breaks out. BJP leaders keep focussing on the problem of illegal immigration rather than acknowledging these new threats."

Turning his attention to internal matters, Owaisi accused the Maharashtra government of forcing Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to revoke two government resolutions (GRs) pertaining to the teaching of a third language in schools. He claimed that the withdrawal followed fierce opposition from residents who favoured keeping Marathi as the primary language in the state's educational system.

"India's identity is rooted in its diversity," the AIMIM leader said, reaffirming his stance on cultural diversity. One language, one culture, and one ideology are what the RSS seeks to impose. India will become a dictatorship if that occurs. We won't permit that. India is a multicoloured tapestry, and we will preserve its unique identity. Owaisi also showed support for Manoj Jarange, a Maratha quota activist who has been spearheading a campaign calling for OBC reservation for the Maratha community.
