The Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Congress Party on Monday released another list of 19 candidates for the third phase of the J&K assembly polls. The list of candidates includes six former ministers, including Chaudhary Lal Singh from Basohli, Yogesh Sawhney from Jammu East, Ramman Bhalla from RS Pura Jammu South, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, who has been fielded from the Billawar Assembly constituency, Yashpal Kundal from Ramgarh, and Mula Ram from Marh Assembly constituency.
Additionally, the party has fielded former MLAs Thakur Balbir Singh from Jasrota and Haji Abdul Rashid Dar from Sopore.
At the same time, two district development councillors (DDCs) have also been named in the list, including one independent DDC, Taranjeet Singh Tony from Suchetgarh, who has recently joined the Congress party and will now be contesting from the newly created Bahu assembly segment.
The list also includes Mool Raj from Ramnagar, who will be contesting for the same assembly constituency against his former party, BJP. Former Corporator Thakur Manmohan Singh has been fielded from Jammu West.
Others on the list are Irshad Ab Gani from Langate, Advocate Irfan Hafeez Lone from Wagoora Kreeri, Summit Mangotra from Udhampur West, Kajal Rajput from Bani, Rakesh Choudhary Jatt from Hiranagar, Krishan Dev Singh from Samba, Neeraj Kundan from Bishnah, and Balbir Singh from the Nagrota Assembly constituency.
The party has decided to leave Chhamb, Akhnoor, and Suchetgarh Assembly segments in the Jammu district.
Although under the pre-poll alliance agreement with NC, the party has fielded one joint candidate, Ajay Sadhotra of NC, from the Jammu North Assembly segment; two joint candidates, Sunil Verma (NC) and Harsh Dev Singh (National Panthers Party India), in Udhampur East and Chenani Assembly constituencies in the Udhampur district; one joint candidate, Rajesh Pargotra (NC), in the Vijaypur Assembly segment of Samba District; and one joint candidate, Subash Chander Azad (NC), in the Kathua Assembly segment.
