'Lok Sabha mein half, Vidhan Sabha mein Saaf', said the leader of the opposition and former chief minister of Haryana, Bhupinder Singh Hooda taking a jibe at the ruling BJP government for its performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections, while exuding confidence to dominate upcoming assembly polls.

Hooda made the remark during a press conference at Chandigarh, where he was accompanied by Congress state chief Udai Bhan, Deepender Singh Hooda, and other newly elected MPs. He highlighted the party's success in the recent Lok Sabha elections where Congress won five out of ten constituencies: Ambala, Sirsa, Hisar, Sonipat, and Rohtak.

Talking about the forthcoming 2024 assembly elections, Hooda seemed confident to sweep the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying that Congress and BJP are the main contenders in the polls.

He said, "The main contest is between Congress and BJP, the remaining parties, including JJP, are contesting with NOTA", adding that the election manifesto meetings are already in progress.

Hooda cleared that the alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party was only at the national level, and Congress would contest the state assembly polls independently.

He claimed that the party's vote share in the recently held Lok Sabha elections was 47.6%, the highest in the country as compared to the BJP vote share which declined by 12% in 2024.

BJP failed:

The Congress leader further slammed the BJP government for failing to do work in the past decade, alleging some areas of the state are still facing electricity and water issues.
