CPI leader Annie Raja commented on the killing of NCP leader Baba Siddique, highlighting the deteriorating law and order situation in Maharashtra.

She expressed concerns that such incidents can happen easily, with culprits escaping accountability.

BRS leader Mahmood Ali condemned the attack and emphasised the need for strict monitoring of those committing such crimes. Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai also expressed sorrow over the incident, remembering Siddique as a source of inspiration who worked for society.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that Siddique would be given a state funeral, acknowledging his service as a former minister and chairman of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA).

The Mumbai Crime Branch has registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Arms Act, and Maharashtra Police Act at Nirmal Nagar Police Station. The crime registration number is 589/2024. The case includes sections covering conspiracy, murder, and use of firearms.

Delhi Police Special Cell is also sending a team to Mumbai to assist in the investigation.

Sources suggest the motive could involve a gangster attempting to establish influence in Mumbai.

Siddique, a key leader in Ajit Pawar's faction of the NCP, was shot near Nirmal Nagar in Bandra.

He later succumbed to his injuries at Lilavati Hospital on Saturday night. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are trying to determine the full details behind the crime.
