Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has dismissed claims that the BJP’s sweeping victory in the Delhi Assembly elections will influence the upcoming Bihar elections. The former deputy chief minister of Bihar made his remarks on Sunday while speaking to journalists, emphasising that every state has its own political landscape.
Tejashwi, who serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, acknowledged the BJP’s return to power in Delhi after nearly 26 years but stated that this victory comes with responsibilities. He urged the ruling party to fulfill its promises rather than engage in "empty rhetoric" (jumlebaazi).
“In a democracy, the people are supreme (janta maalik hai). The BJP has been voted to power in Delhi after nearly 26 years. Hopefully, they will now focus on delivering on their promises,” Yadav said.
When asked about the BJP and its allies claiming that their Delhi win will create momentum for the NDA in Bihar, Tejashwi dismissed the notion outright. He asserted that Bihar’s politics is distinct from other states and cannot be influenced by election results elsewhere.

"Bihar is Bihar. It needs to be understood (Bihar Bihar hai... samajhna padega)," he said, downplaying any potential impact of the Delhi elections.
The NDA in Bihar is led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the head of the Janata Dal (United), who has been in power since 2005, except for a brief period when Jitan Ram Manjhi held office. Kumar, now seeking his fifth consecutive term, has had a turbulent political journey, having switched alliances between the NDA and the RJD twice.
As Bihar heads into elections later this year, Tejashwi Yadav remains confident that local issues, rather than results in other states, will determine the outcome.
