Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya takes a witty jab at Congress.

The Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya speaking in a witty manner, hitting Congress on Tuesday said that 'don't know how many leaders are going to leave the grand old party till its' 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' will reach Maharashtra'.

In a post on X, Maurya said, "A number of senior Congress leaders, while tolerating the injustice of the Gandhi family, chose the time when Rahul Gandhi was himself on the nyay yatra. By the time, the yatra reaches Maharashtra, don't know how many will bid bye-bye to the party... 'Jan-jan kee yehi pukaar, baar-baar Modi sarkaar'."

Maurya's post on X carries significance as it comes a day after former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan tendered his resignation from the Indian National Congress, and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here today in the presence of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Mumbai party unit head Ashish Shelar, and cabinet minister Girish Mahajan.

The departure of Chavan, son of former chief Minister and Union home minister S B Chavan, follows the recent exits of senior Congress leaders Baba Siddique and Milind Deora, worsening the party's challenges in the state.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi headed Nyay Yatra on February 13 reached the state of Chattisgarh where it is endorsed to cover 536 kilometres in Chhattisgarh while passing via - Raigarh, Sakti, Korba, Surajpur, Surguja, and Balrampur districts before entering Jharkhand tomorrow.
