'Even Ravana's ego did not last long': BJP MP’s dig at Kejriwal

Sharma specifically targeted Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, recalling his past remarks where he claimed that the BJP could never defeat the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi.

Rajya Sabha MP Dinesh Sharma

Rajya Sabha MP Dinesh Sharma criticised opposition parties in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, saying their "arrogance" led to their defeat in the recently concluded elections. The results, declared on Saturday, saw the BJP securing significant victories, including in the Milkipur bypoll.

Sharma specifically targeted Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, recalling his past remarks where he claimed that the BJP could never defeat the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Sharma wrote in Hindi, "Even Ravana's ego did not last long. @ArvindKejriwal ji is just an ordinary man."

He further credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership for the BJP's success, stating that Kejriwal and his allies faced a crushing defeat. He also linked the victory to Lord Ram, saying, "This is why they say Shri Ram's 'leela' is incomparable. Jai Shri Ram."

Sharma shared a video of Kejriwal, in which the Delhi CM can be heard saying, "Modi ji, you will not be able to defeat the AAP in Delhi." However, with the latest results, the BJP is now set to form the government in Delhi after over 26 years, having crossed the majority mark in the 70-seat assembly.

BJP wins Milkipur bypoll, defeating SP

In the Milkipur bypoll in Uttar Pradesh, BJP’s Chandrabhanu Paswan secured a decisive victory over Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Ajit Prasad by more than 60,000 votes. This win is significant as Milkipur was the only seat in Ayodhya district that the BJP had lost to the SP in the 2022 state elections.

The bypoll was held after former MLA Awadhesh Prasad vacated the seat upon his election to the Lok Sabha last year. While the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) did not contest the election, the Congress had extended its support to its ally SP.

However, the BJP managed to wrest the seat back, further consolidating its position in Uttar Pradesh.
