Former Congress MLA Ramlal Meghwal and RLP leader Vikram Singh Gurjar officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rajasthan on Monday, signaling a notable shift in political allegiance. The induction ceremony took place in the presence of key BJP figures, including Arun Chaturvedi, the BJP's former state unit president, and Jogeshwar Garg, its chief whip in the assembly.
Meghwal, who previously served as a Congress MLA representing Jalore, and Gurjar, who contested the 2023 assembly elections from Deoli-Uniara under the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) banner, along with several others, formalized their membership with the BJP, as stated by the party in an official release.
Gurjar's political trajectory included a prior association with the Congress before aligning with the RLP ahead of the 2023 assembly elections, further highlighting the dynamic nature of political affiliations in the region.
Reflecting on the state of governance, Chaturvedi underscored the transformative impact of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership over the past decade, asserting that the lives of ordinary citizens have witnessed tangible improvements. He highlighted the multitude of public welfare initiatives aimed at uplifting marginalized segments of society.
Chaturvedi further emphasized the growing confidence in the BJP among leaders from opposition parties, attributing this trend to the effective governance provided by the BJP administration. This influx of new members underscores the party's continued relevance and appeal across political lines.
