Former Indian Air Force chief, Air Chief Marshal (Retd) RKS Bhadauria and Varaprasad Rao, a former MP and YSR Congress leader from Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh joined the BJP on Sunday. Both were welcomed to the party by Union Minister Anurag Thakur and party General Secretary Vinod Tawde.
Bhadauria, who retired from the Air Force in 2021 and belongs to Uttar Pradesh, said his new innings gave him a chance to contribute to nation-building. He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and the steps taken by his government to modernise and strengthen the armed forces, boost self-reliance and adopt tough measures for national security.
Lauding the Modi government’s development initiatives, Rao, a former IAS officer, said the Prime Minister was the most dynamic politician he had seen.
Speaking on the occasion, Thakur said two people with a long track record in government service chose the BJP to contribute to the nation. It was the government, he said, that fulfilled the demand for 'One Rank, One Pension' of armed forces veterans, scrapped Article 370 and boosted the country's internal security.
Tawde lauded Bhadauria's long service in the Air Force and said he hoped he would contribute actively in the political field after playing an active role in the defence forces.
The BJP leader said Bhadauria spent nearly 40 years in the IAF and contributed to Modi’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat programme.
