Hooda to revive 'Padak Lao,Pad Pao' scheme for sportspersons

"Hundreds of sports stadiums were built in villages during Congress tenure, but BJP did not even maintain them properly. BJP also stopped the school-level sports competition SPAT started by Congress. Haryana has got only a 3 percent share from the 'Khelo India' budget. Whereas Haryana's players bring the maximum number of medals in sports. It is clear from all these things that it wants to make the youth of Haryana drug addicts, not sportspersons,” he pointed out.

Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced that the Congress government will revive the 'Padak Lao, Pad Pao' scheme, which rewards sportspersons with senior posts, once it comes to power in the state. Hooda made this statement while addressing journalists in Rohtak today.

The scheme, which was initially introduced by the Congress government, was discontinued by the current BJP government. Hooda criticised the BJP for neglecting sportspersons and not providing them with the respect and rewards they deserve.

In addition to reviving the 'Padak Lao, Pad Pao' scheme, Hooda promised to provide allowances, coaching, and facilities to players at the school level to promote sports talent from the beginning. He also congratulated shooter Manu Bhaker on winning an Olympic medal and wished her and other players the best for upcoming competitions.

Hooda also accused the BJP government of neglecting sports infrastructure in the state, saying that they had not maintained the stadiums built by the Congress government and had stopped school-level sports competitions.
