JJP's future in question as 4 MLAs quit party ahead of polls

The four MLAs are expected to join the BJP and Congress, with Ramkaran Kala and Devendra Babli already pictured together. The JJP has been plagued by internal divisions, with another MLA, Ramkumar Gauram, having opposed the party for some time.

Dushyant Chautala's Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) gets a jolt prior assembly elections in Haryana with 4 of its 10 MLAs quitting the party on Saturday.

Ishwar Singh, Ramkaran Kala, and Devendra Babli quit the party's primary membership, while Anoop Dhanak resigned yesterday. With this, JJP's only loyalists left in the state are Dushyant Chautala, his mother Naina Chautala, and Amarjit Dhanda.

The defections are seen as a major setback for JJP leader Dushyant Chautala, who had previously sought to disqualify two other MLAs for anti-party activities.

The resignations come at a crucial point, where the JJP faces stiff competition from the BJP and Congress, who won five seats each in the June Lok Sabha elections.

The four MLAs are expected to join the BJP and Congress, with Ramkaran Kala and Devendra Babli already pictured together. The JJP has been plagued by internal divisions, with another MLA, Ramkumar Gauram, having opposed the party for some time.

The state is set to go for assembly polls on October 1, the results to be declared on October 4, as announced by ECI this week.

Devendra Babli (Tohana, Fatehabad), Ishwar Singh (Guhla Chikka, Kaithal), and Ramkaran Kala (Shahbad, Kurukshetra) - are expected to join the Congress. Notably, the sons of Kala and Singh have already joined the grand old party, while Babli had campaigned for senior Congress leader Kumari Selja in the Lok Sabha elections.
