Kangana Ranaut, the actor-turned-politician and BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi, sharply criticised Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday.

She called him a "daitya" (monster), claiming he faced this fate because he "disrespected women."

Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Ranaut stated, "I expected such a bad failure of Uddhav Thackeray. You can identify who is a 'devta' (god) and who is a 'daitya' (monster) by how they treat women and work for their welfare."

Ranaut also referred to her past conflicts with the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government led by Uddhav Thackeray, especially when the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished alleged illegal alterations at her Bandra bungalow.

"They demolished my home and verbally abused me," she claimed, adding that such actions have consequences.

The BMC demolished most of the alleged unauthorised constructions at her office-cum-residential bungalow in Bandra in September 2020. Later, the Bombay High Court ruled that the action by the BMC was unjust and ordered compensation for Kangana due to "malafide action."

Ranaut praised the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance for their huge victory in Maharashtra, highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.

"Modi is invincible and destined to save the country," she said, emphasising that the election results were a lesson for those "talking about breaking the country."

She also expressed her admiration for the people of Maharashtra, who she said voted for development and stability.

"I saw every child chanting 'Modi-Modi' during the campaign. Prime Minister Modi is the tallest leader in the world. The BJP is a brand, and today, the people of India believe in the brand," Ranaut added.

The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance secured 233 out of 288 seats in Maharashtra, defeating the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which only won 49 seats, making it unable to claim the position of Opposition Leader.
