Amid rising tension between Janata Dal(United) and Rashtriya Janata Dal, some activities have been reported from RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s residence. Lalu has, reportedly, offered the post of deputy chief minister to Jitan Ram Manjhi’s son Santosh Manjhi. He has also been offered a few Lok Sabha seats, if he agrees to join the mahagathbandhan.
However, Santosh has made his stance clear. He said: “He will stick to the National Democratic Alliance and such offers do not make any difference.”
RJD, on the other hand, has started to make preparations to gain at least and over 122 seats in the state in order to stay in power.
Sources have said that if Chief Minister Nitish Kumar withdraws his party from the ruling alliance in the state then the RJD will require eight more MLAs to reach the 122 mark and be the dominant party in Bihar.
Kumar’s dissatisfaction with the INDIA bloc resonates through the JD(U) and RJD’s relations. The latter did not support the former's demand of holding assembly elections in the state close to the Lok Sabha polls.
Moreover, the recent spat with Lalu’s daughter’s post has exploded the already-existing tension between the two parties of the alliance in Bihar.
Jumping into the fray, the Bharatiya Janata Party has indicated that if Kumar wants to join the BJP-led NDA then the saffron clan will welcome him to form government in the state once again.
