The series of switching political parties continues to persist in Punjab even when the state is just 17 days apart from going to Lok Sabha elections, hence, changing the political landscape in the state.
On Monday, May 13, Bharatiya Janata Party - BJP leader Sawaran Salaria from Gurdaspur quits the party and joins the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Ludhiana. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann inducted and welcomed Salaria into the AAP fold, the ruling government in the state.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party's Jagmohan Kang, who remained the former Minister and Ex-MLA from Kharar, rejoined the Congress on Monday in Delhi.
Kang joined the AAP fold in the year 2022, prior to the Vidhan Sabha Elections after he was then denied a Congress ticket from Kharar.
Kang switched to Congress in the presence party's national president Mallikarjun Kharge.
Besides this, the previous week, the Bains Brothers of the Lok Insaaf Party - LIP merged their party with the Congress with Rahul Gandhi welcoming them into the party in Delhi.
Earlier, LIP contested the Punjab Legislative Assembly election in 2017 on five seats being an ally of the Aam Aadmi Party. LIP only managed to register victory on two seats.
During the Indian general elections of 2019, the party participated in three Lok Sabha seats in Punjab as part of the Punjab Democratic Alliance but did not secure the win on any seat.
