Delhi Assembly Leader of Opposition Atishi on Friday strongly criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following the Anti-Corruption Bureau’s (ACB) summons to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in connection with the alleged classroom construction scam in the national capital.
Addressing the media in New Delhi, Atishi described the case as yet another “fake” allegation engineered by the BJP to target AAP leaders. She asserted that the BJP has consistently misused central agencies to frame opposition leaders in baseless cases. “Former minister Manish Sisodia was summoned for questioning in a fake classroom scam case. This is yet another addition to the series of fake cases filed by the BJP. In the past 10 years, the BJP government and its various agencies have filed over 200 cases against AAP members — but despite all the raids and investigations, they haven't found even 1 rupee of corrupt money from any AAP leader,” Atishi stated.
She accused the BJP of launching these cases to deflect attention from its failures in governance, particularly in Delhi. Atishi argued that the real motive behind the ACB probe was political, and driven by the BJP’s inability to effectively manage the affairs of the capital. “The real reason behind this classroom probe is that the BJP is unable to govern. Whether it’s waterlogging, electricity, or rising school fees — on every front, the BJP has failed,” she added.

Earlier in the day, AAP leader Manish Sisodia himself appeared before the Anti-Corruption Bureau in connection with the ongoing investigation. Speaking to reporters, he accused the BJP of misusing investigating agencies to target opposition leaders with fabricated charges. Sisodia defended his tenure as Delhi’s Education Minister, claiming that the city saw unprecedented improvements in education infrastructure under his leadership. “Excellent work has been done in Delhi’s education sector. Brilliant classrooms and schools were built,” he said.
The ACB’s case stems from complaints filed by BJP leaders Harish Khurana, Kapil Mishra, and Neelkanth Bakshi. According to the Anti-Corruption Branch of the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD), a case has been registered against Manish Sisodia and former Health Minister Satyendar Jain over alleged irregularities in the construction of school classrooms in Delhi. The allegations pertain to a purported scam involving inflated costs in the construction of school buildings, with the alleged corruption pegged at around ₹2,000 crore.
Both Sisodia and Jain were prominent ministers in the previous AAP-led Delhi government and are currently facing scrutiny in multiple cases initiated by central and state-level investigative agencies.
