After the BJP’s thumping victory in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the development of Mumbai had now become the BJP’s responsibility. He made these comments on the sidelines of the 21st edition of the Tata Mumbai Marathon, a World Athletics Gold Label Race.
He said, “It’s natural that one side wins and the other loses while competing in the elections. The BJP secured the maximum number of seats. It becomes their responsibility to ensure the progress of Mumbai.”
“The BJP now carries a major responsibility to fulfil the expectations of Mumbai’s residents after emerging as the largest party in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections,” he said.
Referring to his college days in Mumbai, he said, “When I was in Mumbai for three years in my college days, one would never have imagined even in one’s dreams that the city would one day have infrastructure projects such as the Coastal Road,” Abdullah said.
