Sources indicate that around 80% of the new team will comprise leaders from the younger generation. While the full formation of the team may take nearly six months, it is almost certain that most key posts—such as general secretary and secretary—will be held by leaders under the age of 50.
The restructuring comes at a crucial time, with Assembly elections in five states scheduled for next year. Nitin is expected to shape the team keeping these elections in mind. A senior party leader said it is customary for a national president to appoint either junior leaders or contemporaries to important organisational positions.
