Marking the third anniversary of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Monday, actor-turned-politician Vijay declared that his party has evolved into a massive political force capable of toppling the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. While analysts have been framing the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections as a three or four-way battle, Vijay dismissed the noise, insisting the real fight is strictly between the TVK and the DMK.

"People can talk about triangular contests all they want," Vijay told a sea of supporters. "On one side, you have the TVK backed by the people; on the other, you have the DMK. Then there's the Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies. But only the TVK has the grassroots strength to actually defeat the DMK at the polls."

Vijay didn't hold back in his criticism of the ruling party, which is currently celebrating its 75th anniversary. Calling the DMK a "platinum jubilee baby," he claimed that only he has the guts to stand up to them because of public backing. He even invoked the legacy of the legendary MG Ramachandran, suggesting he is ready to replicate MGR’s historic rise to power.

The actor-politician also took a playful but sharp jab at Chief Minister MK Stalin’s recent comment about losing sleep over his ministers' public gaffes. "Wake up Stalin and ask him who he’d vote for," Vijay joked. "He’d say the 'Whistle' [TVK’s symbol]. The truth always slips out when you wake someone up from a deep sleep."

Responding to critics who claim he spends too much time behind closed doors and avoids the media, Vijay offered a defiant warning. "To those shouting for me to come out of my house, I say: just wait, boss. There is a 'Vijay' and a 'Viji' in every single household in this state. They’ll all come out on election day, voter IDs in hand, and you’ll definitely feel it then."

He closed his speech by urging party workers to stay sharp, calling his followers the "whistleblowers" of Tamil Nadu. He claimed that a loud blast of the TVK whistle would be enough to scatter "corrupt forces" and clear the path for a new government. To drive the point home, he quipped that if the ancient poet Thiruvalluvar have been alive, he would have written that "injustice, anarchy, and mischief are the world of the DMK."
