The reason why Tandur has been chosen as the point of beginning is not a random decision; the AIMIM has a track record of winning seats from this very place and is now planning to capitalise on it.

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi hit the ground running this Saturday, choosing Tandur in the Vikarabad district to kick off his campaign for the upcoming municipal elections. Flanked by Bahadurpura MLA Mohd Mubeen, several GHMC corporators, and a wave of local supporters, Owaisi led a door-to-door foot campaign through various wards of the Tandur Municipality to drum up support for his party's candidates.

The reason why Tandur has been chosen as the point of beginning is not a random decision; the AIMIM has a track record of winning seats from this very place and is now planning to capitalise on it. But the AIMIM’s plans do not end there. They are planning to make their presence felt in the state, contesting seats in major municipal corporations such as Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Mahabubnagar, and Nalgonda.

In addition to the larger cities, the party is also making inroads into a number of smaller municipalities such as Bhainsa, Vikarabad, Jagityal, and Metpally. In the past, the AIMIM has demonstrated that it is able to compete effectively in these local contests, particularly in the districts of Karimnagar and Nizamabad, where they have succeeded in electing influential leaders such as the Mayor and Deputy Mayor. By launching his campaign so early and on the ground, it is clear that Owaisi is making the point that the party is going to aggressively protect its existing bases of support while also seeking to expand its influence in the urban local bodies of Telangana.
